The Danville Chapter of AMBUCS annually awards scholarships to local scholars in addition to donating funds toward the nationwide effort. Scholarships are awarded to students who will attend college for physical or occupational therapy, speech pathology or hearing audiology.
Awards are made based on financial need, academic achievement, and field of study. Graduate students may also qualify for National AMBUC scholarships in addition to ours. The National AMBUCS organization awards more scholarships than any other organization in the therapy fields.
Since 1955, contributions are deposited into the Living Endowment Fund. The interest alone will someday provide a continuous source of scholarship funds. The Danville Chapter of AMBUCS, like all other chapters, provides contributions for the Living Endowment fund.
Every chapter has the opportunity to sponsor deserving students for grants of $500 to $2,000. Students may also ask for assistance with no chapter sponsorship. Scholarships are awarded in the spring and early summer for the following year.
The Lori Lyons Scholarships are available to Seniors graduating from the Vermilion County area who are pursuing a degree in the field of Special Education. This scholarship is named to honor a long time AMBUC member and retired teacher Lori Lyons (who is on the committee to approve this scholarship). These scholarships can be renewable for 4 years provided the applicant continues pursuing a degree in Special Education. Each year the applicant will receive a form to complete which will be reviewed for additional scholarship funds.
The Therapy Student Scholarships are for Vermilion County students who are seeking education in Physical Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology, Recreational Therapy, or Music Therapy.
