Summer Camp

July 26 - 31, 2010 (Ages 5-10)
August 2 - 7, 2010 (Ages 11-21)

Two one-week long Children with Disabilities Summer Day Camps have been provided for more than 30 years for children in our area. It is one of our first projects - and many [most?!] of our other projects have derived from this one!

A salaried, professional, staff of camp directors, counselors, and a nurse are on hand to be sure that the children have a week filled with fun and safe activity. The camps include bowling, roller skating, swimming, AMBUCS Playground for Everyone, crafts, miniature golf, games and cookouts.

The highlight of each week is a special trip. This might include a visit to the Indianapolis Children's Museum, a Zoo, or nearby theme park. All of these activities are done with the help of AMBUCS volunteers to give the children who need extra help a chance to truly enjoy themselves.

Week one is for children ages 5-10 and it is July 27-August 1. The children go home around 8:30 Saturday morning. Week two is for ages 11-21 and runs August 3-8 with the overnight on Friday, August 7. Camp hours are 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

For the campers who have 'outgrown' the camp, we have a special dance and bingo party each Wednesday night of the camp.

There are no fees or costs to attend the camp. The Danville Chapter of AMBUCS provides the funds for staff salaries, camper's meals, activities, transportation and insurance.
